There are many reasons why many people find scrapbooking a worthwhile hobby. It helps sort our precious photos and preserve memories. It gives your house guests something to peer at and talk about. And most especially, it helps in letting one’s creativity put to work.
Most scrapbookers rely on tools, materials and embellishments found being sold at arts and crafts supplies stores. If that’s the case, how can one come up with something one of its kind? For sure buying ready-to-use albums and embellishments won’t help you do just that.
Take note that just because you’re using pricey materials for your album means it’s special already. Even if your scrapbooking papers or decorations are made of recycled materials, your creations can still end up beautifully. That’s why doing scrapbook is a great hobby, even for those who have little or no budget for a new leisure pursuit.
First, Make sure you sort out your photographs, and include only those that are truly extraordinary. You may place everyday snapshots in boxes or standard photo albums. But for those that will make for superb conversation pieces, let them grace your album’s pages. For instance, a photograph of everybody in giro ski helmet during a family trip in a famous skiing resort.
As with embellishments, you don’t have to rush to an arts and crafts supplies store. With a little ingenuity, you can make nifty decorative elements out of things you can find at home. And you’re guaranteed too that your pages will look Unique. This is because they’re not available elsewhere for fellow scrapbookers to pay for.
A gift wrapper or leftover wallpaper may be used as photo and page borders. The graphics on postcards, greeting cards and invitations you received can be cut and used as decors as well. Fabrics, lace, and buttons from old clothing items can make for interesting trimmings. Even things you can pick up during your trip may be used, like stones, shells and others!
As with themes, you can focus on something else apart from the usual: Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc. Why not devote a page or two for your baby’s first haircut? Or your daughter finally getting her dream pair of posh women’s brown boots? How about your son’s first ever guitar rock performance in a school production? Or the family adopting a lovable dog from a shelter?
To make a scrapbook extraordinary, it doesn’t necessarily have to be outlandishly different or decorated. Even when you render your creation’s pages in a simple manner, it can still end up as something everyone will enjoy.
